JUNKIN'

I KNOW!!!

Looks like junk, no!!!???

I am in the mood to ALTER!!!

Grabbed these prizes yesterday at the second hand store. The scrabble tiles, oh my! Those were very exciting. Tim the dude that runs the store laughed and said, I figured you were going to grab those.

The huge decorative circle might have been covering where a stove pipe went through a ceiling? It's not old, but by the time I get through with it, it will be an oober cool frame. See that? Another technical term...oober.

I have been watching Helen gesso up metal. Hers were MUCH smaller. ;-) Got ideas...

I am thinking a nice layer of Gesso combined with some very coppery colored inks...and something amazing in the center....

And take a quick peek at that frame with the orange sunset...which is almost too nice to alter...trying to figure  out how to make it mine...perhaps an old world look to it with some shimmer modge modge...after a layer of gesso???

And the funky beady stuff on wire...enough there to share...

And a well built box with the top already sanded off...fun times there.

Total Cost of Haul:  $8 and the money goes to help the animal shelter.

ROCK ON!

  5. Oh my word I totally love that pewtery metal embossed frame. That is seriously beautiful!! That needs a mirror in it and gesso smeard in/all over that's for sure!! Pure beauty!!! Definitely a plus for living in Potsdam. Here there is NO junking - just "antique shopping" - VERY expensive...

  6. I would have peed my pants if I saw those scrabble bits. I have looked everywhere...lucky girl you!! :D Okay, maybe not really peed myself literally, but figuratively, in my mind, I would have been that elated. Super great finds chica. Let the altering begin! :)

  9. Can't wait to see how you repurpose these goodies! Our thrift/second hand stores are not usually as nicely stocked and the antique shops are too pricey... Guess I'll just have to create vicariously through your efforts!!
