Sweet Treats Layout for Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge
oh me and that background paper (you see the mustard colored one) fought and fought! I was using it and was gunna win if it killed me. So, this layout hung out for at least a couple of days on my scrap table until I was finally happy with it. See those snippets of cherry paper in there from Close to My Heart? I wanted to use those too and they both were arguing. Perhaps it was the trauma of trying to use a few vintage Christmas photos in March...so perhaps the joke was on me...
Anyhow, I thought the story was an important one to capture.
The challenge for April 1st at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge is to: This is April Fool’s day – scrap about a trick or prank that was either pulled on you, a friend, or that you pulled on someone else!! If you have difficulty with this, you could alternatively scrap about a surprise you experienced or that you prepared for someone else (surprise birthday party??)
When I spotted that challenge I was at a loss. I mean, we are a pretty serious family plus I am an only child. So, I was coming up with a blank.
Now, my Uncle Ted was also pretty serious but he had a bit of a humorous side to him.
Take a gander at THIS outfit. My Aunt is on left and no doubt hearing some amusing story. Anyone that can mix plaids that well? They will always tell awesome stories.
Anyhow, the story on this page was that one Christmas while waiting for the ADULTS to get done with cocktails and chit chat so we could tear into gifts, I ran around and begged all the cherries out of the drinks. Little did anyone think I was going to get tipsy! Goodness! Mom said it was obvious when I fell over....
So, it became a yearly tradition to buy me my OWN jar. Uncle Ted was probably relieved to have one easy present.
And a little bit about some of the elements on my page. I have been planning on using this custom font from Heather that she provided on her blog. It is HER own handwriting! Although it felt weird using someones actual handwriting!!! You can always download her font now and use it later. I downloaded mine at least a month or two ago.
My title is on some copper I cut out with my Sizzix and a Spellbinders die. I used Modge Podge Dimensional Magic over the top. It it is lovely stuff that you can also add a bit of glitter to.
And just a close up of all the bling I added. ;-) Had fun layering it up and punching up these Christmas stickers.
Please come have a play at this challenge! I am sure you have some fun stories to tell too!!
I'd love to hear them!

This is amazing...I'm glad you 'won' the battle with your paper, cos it's one of my fave LO's of yours...the copper shape looks great & the story is very, very funny...so is your Unc's sense of style:):):)
ReplyDeleteYou are a riot! And including that jar of cherries so prominently on your LO was a super idea.
