Clay Day Layout for ScrapFriends

Was trying to tell my sis in law while she was here the great part about jumping off from a sketch. Now, never found the time to print one out for her and show her how to give one a whirl, but I think that this page is a good illustration of that.

Used to feel CONSTRAINED by sketches, but now I love them.

Take for instance this sketch from ScrapFriends.

It made me feel like I wanted to be GRUNGY...with my paint and bling. Awesome challenge sketch for July.

And I'm pretty sure Lizzy Hill who is over at ScrapFriends meant for me to use Washi tape. Can you see how maybe that black and white checkered area on the sketch might be washi tape? What you don't see that there?  ;-)

A wee bit of gesso, something flat to MOOOSH it around with (that is a very important technical term there and you heard it here first!) and then some splatters with some Mr. Huey...which is now all over my scrapdesk since I was goin' for just the right angle...

And I'd like to draw your attention to my amazing use of twine to sew along the edges. I came up with the idea of the long STRIPES of twine to decrease the actual amount of stitching. Nothing like getting a look outta slacking.

And how about WASHI TAPE stickers for a good amount of stacking.

That bad boy up there came in my Scraptastic Kit as part of a sticker pack I am pretty impressed with. Nice part was that the layering is predone and just perfect!! ;-)

Anyhow, should the rain hold off, we have a date at the Clay Lady's outdoor studio to add handles to our little pots we made today.

It was so much fun watching the kids throw in the shade outdoors. They then went for a swim to clean all the clay off and had jello!!!

I know, the hardships my kids face....
