Got Wood? Bird is the Word Challenge Layout

Ah ha! Nothing like killing a kit to make you feel successful! Say goodbye to my January Scraptastic Kit 'cause I used up the rest of it on this page! Love how making these little top note pretties used up smaller pieces and made me SO happy!

I was going for the quilt look with a mish mash of paper. And wanted to use smaller photos.

When I showed THE MAN this page, he laughed and said, you make it seem romantic and country, gathering wood.

A nice sunny day in the woods with a small amount of snow, visiting the lichens and moss and getting a free work out? Not a bad time certainly!

This page was made for the Bird is the Word challenge to use the word Discover on your page.

I enjoyed making that coffee stain on the top of my page which is actually a stamp. I have a passle of stamps and should get them out more because I love stamping.

And here is a close up of my title. I used a an embossed tag with wood grain behind my sticker/Tim Holtz letters. Love my O's so much!

And a close up of my die cut. If you are interesting in creating something similar, you just take a heavier piece of cardstock or even light weight cardboard, add paper strips, and then run through your die cutter. Inking up the edges brings out the imperfections and makes it even better in my book.

Hope this Monday finds you all rested up from a nice weekend!

  1. You tell The Man that gathering wood is romantic and country! LOL Especially if it reminds you of your childhood and you get to do it with your kiddos! I think your page is beautiful and I love the way you used all of your scraps.

I know just what you mean about how awesome it feels to kill a kit! Love it.

It is nice to hear you wax poetic about wood gathering of years ago, and to know that now it is like putting 'gold in the bank.' Heating with your sweat and then enjoying it another time around is romantic sounding, but good for everyone involved. Perhaps the kids did a little grousing like some people do (did?)!
I enjoyed the page and the sunshine in the chilly air comes across in the colors and the woodsy browns! Gretchen
